    Default $1100 for new chains......eeek

    Surely not!!
Just got a quote from Mitsu dealer in Adelaide for a TS 4 cyl.
Any recommendations for the Adelaide area, that just seems excessive labour charge even if it is 8 hours work.
The adjuster at the front is taking up all the slack it can, is there an alternative, what is the "bypass kit?"
Chains were done about two years ago, think I got a dodgy job.

Hi mate, I can do far better than that.

Do you want to PM me, I can give you my number, for that price I could almost rebuild the enture engine

The Bypass kit is good however on the second gen there is an issue with the bypass chain tensionor as it is also hydrolic.

I can explain all to you when you call.

    OUCH!!!
I was quoted $500 to replace the timing chain, some other chain and some other little things by my mechanic when i had my TR. Turned out the chain was fairly new and wasn't causing the rattle so beats me.
Please use the report a post feature, instead of replying and creating more work for the admin team. Thanks!

It's gotta do with the worn chain guides causing that characteristic chain chatter

This can be true in a first gen however most of the time in al astron motors the culprit will be the balance chain. Thus why they get ripped out and tossed
